Rental Terms & Waiver
Please Read Before You Ride
We want your ride in Kyoto to be safe, comfortable and enjoyable. Before renting one of our bikes, please read the following rental terms and safety information carefully.
By renting or riding one of our bicycles, you confirm that you understand and agree to these terms.
1. Bike Pick-Up & Return
All bicycles must be picked up from and returned to our designated Bike Pick-Up & Return Point.
We currently do not offer bicycle delivery or collection services.
Please return your bicycle at the agreed date and time. If you expect to be late, please contact us as soon as possible.
2. Helmets & Safety
Helmets are provided free of charge for all riders, and we strongly recommend wearing your helmet at all times while riding.
Riders are responsible for:
-
Following Japanese traffic laws and local cycling rules
-
Riding carefully and at a safe speed
-
Following traffic signals and signs
-
Not using a mobile phone while riding
-
Not riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs
-
Taking extra care around pedestrians, narrow streets and busy areas
Please remember that Kyoto has many narrow streets, pedestrians and areas with heavy traffic.
3. Children & Younger Riders
Children must be comfortable and confident riding a bicycle independently and must be supervised by a parent or responsible adult.
We offer children’s bicycles in different sizes. Please provide the age and height of each child when making your reservation so we can prepare the most suitable bicycle.
Parents or guardians are responsible for determining whether a child is capable of safely operating the bicycle provided.
4. Multi-Day Rentals
For multi-day rentals, we will provide a battery charger for electric bicycles.
Bicycles rented overnight must be stored indoors or in a covered location protected from rain and weather.
Please check with your hotel or accommodation before booking to make sure they can provide suitable bicycle storage.
Leaving the bicycle outside overnight or in an unsecured location is not permitted.
5. Bags & Personal Belongings
Our bicycles do not have large baskets.
Each bicycle is equipped with a small bag suitable for carrying small personal items, approximately the size of a 500 ml drink bottle.
Please plan accordingly and avoid carrying large or heavy luggage while riding.
We are not responsible for personal belongings that are lost, damaged or left with the bicycle.
6. Bicycle Care, Damage & Loss
Before departure, our staff will explain the basic operation of your bicycle and give you an opportunity to check that everything is working correctly.
During the rental period, you are responsible for taking reasonable care of the bicycle and any accessories provided.
Please contact us immediately if:
-
The bicycle is damaged
-
You are involved in an accident
-
The bicycle develops a mechanical problem
-
The bicycle is lost or stolen
Do not attempt major repairs yourself without contacting us first.
Damage caused by normal use or an unexpected mechanical issue will be assessed separately from damage caused by misuse, negligence or an accident.
The renter may be responsible for the reasonable cost of repairing or replacing equipment that is damaged, lost or stolen while in their possession.
7. Parking & Theft Prevention
Always lock your bicycle when leaving it unattended.
Please use designated bicycle parking areas whenever possible. Bicycles parked illegally may be removed by local authorities, and any related charges may be the responsibility of the renter.
For multi-day rentals, bicycles must be securely stored overnight as described above.
8. Weather & Riding Conditions
Weather and road conditions in Kyoto can change quickly.
You are responsible for deciding whether you feel comfortable continuing to ride in rain, heat or other changing conditions.
If severe weather or another safety issue makes riding unsuitable, please contact us.
